Focussing upon the mechanisms associated with exposure to aerosolised particulates (e.g., air pollution, engineered advanced materials, vitreous fibres) and how these might be hazardous to human health, and/or contribute to the onset/exacerbation of human (lung) disease states.

Martin is globally recognised for the development and use of advanced in vitro lung model systems, mimicking the in vivo scenario, to assess the toxicology of inhaled (nano)particles and fibres.
